Clean and centrally located hotel in the heart of Shanghai. The public areas and guest rooms were impeccably styled and well-maintained. The staff - especially the concierge and reception - were friendly - helpful, and courteous. The hotel's grounds were also well-kept - adding to the overall charm of the place.

    Strongly recommend.

Excellent hotel expanding by converting one of the buildings into hotel after having been restaurant. Lovely garden, quiet location but still central. Helpful staff. Excellent room facilities and very competitive price level given the standard of the hotel. Can be recommended to the discerning traveller.

Until June 2012 renovation work means some minor disadvantages but nothing that influence the stay.

Comfort and quietness of the room, beautiful location (in a park) in the French concession.

No wireless internet connexion in the room.

The decoration of the hotel was absolutely stunning, reminiscent of a bygone era. The grand chandeliers, beautiful carpets, and plush furniture created a sense of elegance and sophistication. The general areas, such as the lobby and the gardens, were impeccably maintained and provided a peaceful and serene atmosphere. As a senior woman, I appreciated how accessible the hotel was for people like me. The spacious hallways and wide staircases made it easy to navigate, and there were conveniently placed handrails for support. the hotel's decoration and accessibility made my stay truly enjoyable.

The only thing that I would ask for to make the vacation even better for senior people is for the children working there, the staff, to be more attentive and helpful. There were instances where I felt like I wasn't being acknowledged or provided with the assistance that I needed.

We chose this hotel for its position on a trip to visit family. Nice old (for Shanghai) building with interesting rooms identified as the favourite of Mao and other leaders when staying in Shanghai in the 50s. Spacious grounds which are unusual in Shanghai. Hotel reasonably close to French Concession dining and shopping and some swanky shopping north on the Huahai road. Staff very friendly and attentive with good english. Excellent breakfast included in the price. Room comfortable but a little tired and mosquitos very annoying in the room.

Beautiful old buildings and nice landscaped garden in the middle of the French concession. Ideal place for weddings (many take place there).

Unfortunately, during our stay, most of the hotel was under renovation, which was not mentionned at any time during booking! Sould be finished by Christmass 2011.

I always choose this hotel because it has everything I need: free Wi-Fi, on-site car park, luggage storage, 24-hour reception, bar/ lounge area, restaurant. At my first stay, the staff kindly helped my elderly parents. I'm coming back for New Year.

The location in the center of the French concession is wonderful. Close to shops, many charming restaurants, subway. The area is lovely with charming tree lined streets. Our room price which included breakfast was very reasonable The staff was very helpful and were very accommodating. Breakfast included a fresh cooked egg/ omelette station, fruit, pastries, cereal, Yogurt, cold cuts basically anything you could ask for plus Japanese and Chinese specialities like dumplings, noodles, etc Best off all great coffee poured continuously. The grounds are lovely with fountains, flowers and trees. It's a calm oasis in a vibrant city.

Ruijin hotel is a grand dame currently being totally renovated. However, there was no noise or inconvenience. The current rooms we stayed in need updating but were clean and spacious. I am afraid once all the renovations are complete we would not be able to afford to stay there again but would go back without hesitation.

Great location in Shanghai and it offered excellent value for money. This is not a 5 star hotel, but a good standard 4 star hotel. The staff are very helpful and very pleasant. The restrauant is very good and not all expensive.

I recently stayed at the beautiful Intercontinental in downtown Shanghai for a weekend getaway. The staff were incredibly friendly and even upgraded my room, which was a pleasant surprise. The hotel itself is a historic gem with its classic architecture and stunning grounds. Being located in the French quarter, it was convenient to explore the city and there were plenty of restaurants nearby. The room I stayed in was spacious, clean, and well-appointed, making my stay all the more enjoyable.

    Couldn't recommend this hotel more.

The gardens and atmosphere were beautiful, and the hotel was in a convenient location near many attractions. The bed was comfortable and the room was well-appointed with amenities.

The kitchen staff didn't seem to be checking the buffet regularly, and we had to overhear from another table that we could order eggs from the kitchen. , the check-in process was frustrating, with unusual and high deposit fees and confusion over payment policies.

The art deco building and Club Lounge were beautiful, and our room was spacious and luxurious, especially the bathroom. The location was convenient, walking distance to lively areas like Huaihai Lu. The afternoon buffet and cocktail in the Club Building were a bonus. we will definitely be coming back!

I had a wonderful stay at the Intercontinental in Shanghai. The Club Intercontinental rooms were stunning and well-maintained. The modified happy hour at La Rue restaurant was a pleasant surprise, with a delicious set menu. The staff, especially May Zhang, provided exceptional service. The buffet breakfast had a variety of options. I highly recommend this hotel for a luxurious and convenient stay.
